After School Enrichment Projects

Did
you know that during the 2006-07 school year, over
6,000 projects were completed by youth in Delaware
County who participated in 4-H school enrichment and
4-H after school programs?
4-H project books are available for for Delaware
County, Pennsylvania clubs, classroom teachers, and home
school families to use.
Registration Info and Forms:
- Click

(PDF) and check the projects you would like to see.
If you are unable to download the information, please call the extension office for a hard copy.
- Complete the
form and send it to our office. OR send an e-mail
with all the pertinent information to hxb1@psu.edu
.
- DO NOT FORGET...our office only serves Delaware
County, Pennsylvania youth. If you are not in Delaware
County, contact your county extension office - your
local source for great resources for youth education.

4-H After School Enrichment Projects:
 |
Woodworking - Build a simple project from wood. Chose from a variety of projects. Stain, paint,
sandpaper, stencils, nails and glue supplied. $9 per
kit. Recommended for grades 3 through 8. |

Rocketry - Learn physics by doing simple experiments
and building Estes model rockets or bottle rockets. Check out
our newest aerospace series, Aerospace Adventures,
with four different books geared for primary
through high school students. $9 per Estes rocket
kit; box of experiments available for loan for
$10 per classroom. Rocket building
and launching training available for teachers
upon request. |

Fall
&Spring Indoor Gardening - Our Fall and Spring Plant Science program geared for elementary through high school, includes lesson plans, project books and materials needed for $10 per participant. Many academic standards are met in the areas of Science & Technology and Environment & Ecology. Training is provided for teachers. The Spring Indoor Gardening 2008 information is now available - registration is requested by February 27, 2008.

Agricultural Literacy Projects - If you are looking for ways to introduce young people to the world of agriculture and life sciences, then check out these kid-tested, fun-filled science activities that are keyed to national science education standards in the areas of agriculture, plants and insects. Agricultural Literacy projects show kids the source of the foods we consume. There is an optional spring
field trip to the 4-H Farm. This project meets
various academic standards depending on the grade
level.

- Join our Pest Patrol (grades 3-5), Creepy
Crawlers (grades 3-5), What's Bugging You (grades
6-8) and Dragons, Houses and Other Flies (grades
9-12) - Learning about insects and IPM through
age-appropriate hands-on activities. |

Portfolio
Pathways: Painting, Printing and Graphic Design
and Sketchbook Crossroads: Drawing, Fiber and
Sculpture - These new 4-H
projects are especially great for after school
art clubs and are easily adaptable for most
ages. |

Kids & Kash (middle school) - Booklets include budgeting, informed shopping decisions, how to complain effectively. |

Money
Fundamentals (pre-teens) - Teach
youth about personal finance, decision making,
the difference between wants and needs, how
to budget, check writing, advertising, comparison
shopping and more. |

Treasures
of 4-H - NEW! Designed to introduce youth in grades 2-4 to

education; communication and expressive arts;
consumer and family sciences; environmental
education and earth sciences; healthy lifestyles;
personal development and leadership; plants
and animals; and science and technology. |

Tree Tops (3rd, 4th, & 5th) and Trees + Me = Forestry (5th, 6th, & 7th) - Learn about trees, forest resources and identification. |

Activities for Youth and Adults -
